"A Comfortable Home – An Empowered Family"

Under the "Ran Vimana" housing scheme implemented by the Samurdhi Development Department—themed "A Comfortable Home – An Empowered Family"—150 houses were handed over to beneficiary families today (27), covering all administrative districts of the island.

In conjunction with the National Programme for Poverty Eradication through Community Empowerment, and as part of the process to empower 'Aswesuma' beneficiaries and low-income families, the period from July 15 to August 15 has been designated as "Empowerment Month" to accelerate the empowerment programmes introduced by the Samurdhi Development Department and to raise awareness among Samurdhi officers; plans are also in place to hand over 500 houses constructed under the "Ran Vimana" housing scheme to beneficiaries during this period.

Furthermore, plans are in place to construct 1,020 houses with a financial allocation of Rs. 1,020 million under the 2025–2026 provisions;

Concurrently, a ceremony to hand over two newly constructed houses to beneficiaries—located in the Heiyanthuduwa area of ​​the Biyagama Divisional Secretariat Division and the Warakanaththa area of ​​the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat Division in the Gampaha District—was held today under the patronage of Dr. Upali Pannila, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security, and Community Empowerment.
