About Us
The Department of Samurdhi Development was established by the Divi Neguma Act No. 01 of 2013. The main objective of establishing this department is to eradicate poverty and create a society that ensures social justice by promoting livelihood and economic development activities centered on the individual, family, group and community.
Our Development Programs
Under the Samurdhi Development Program implemented by the Department of Samurdhi Development, 10 major development programs are implemented in the 25 districts of the island:
Livelihood Development Program

Media Programme
Utilizing various media platforms for awareness creation, community engagement, and promotion of development initiatives.
Community Based Banking Programme
Financial inclusion programs and microfinance initiatives to support economic activities and entrepreneurship at the community level.
Social Welfare Programme
Targeted programs focused on supporting vulnerable groups in society including women, children, elderly, and differently-abled persons.
